2022 BARTENDER COMPETITION RULES

SKILLS CHALLENGE

Timed Shot Pour


One member from each team has 1 min 30 seconds to chill 10 shots and accurately pour them. Each shot = 50 points poured within 1/4 ounce of the correct pour (1.5oz). The remaining liquid will be strained and measured after contestant pours. Ten Points (10pts) will be deducted for every 0.5oz of liquid left in the shaker. (500pts)




Free Pour


Contestants will Free Pour 5 shots per each hand to demonstrate shot count for accuracy. Each shot poured accurately within 1/8 of an ounce = 50pts. (500pts)




Fastest Bottle Popper


Pop the caps off 5 Bottle Beers and place bottles on bar without spilling. Any bottle that spills does not count. Each Beer = 80 points. Times range from 1st=100pts to 5th=0pts. (500pts)




Speed/Memory


Accuracy of memory and speed will be tested by a bartender from each team. Three (3) guests order- Name, Drink, Shot. Bartender will take ALL orders, and clock starts. Bartender is allowed ONE return trip to the bar to verify ONE guest order. Penalty for extra trips. (500pts)




Craft Cocktail


Teams will create and present 1 craft cocktail on site up to 5 times. One or more sponsored brands must be included. Bring any special ingredients needed for the cocktail. Lemons, Limes, Oranges provided. (500pts)





PROMOTION AND SALES PORTION

Door Check In


Each team will receive 10 points per guest who checks in. One check-in per team per night.




Sales Points


1x point for every dollar sold that evening (food, wine, beer, liquor, & beverages). 2x points for every dollar sold towards sponsored products. 3x points for ALL SALES of Sponsored Brands from 830pm-10pm.





BARTENDER PAYOUT AND TIP OUT EXPECTATIONS

Good Vibes = Bartender Payout Incentive


Teams receive 10% of THEIR TOTAL NET SALES after comps. Teams that ring $2,500.00 and over get 15% of THEIR Total Net Sales from Prelims rounds of the Competition in addition to tips earned. Example – Team rings $2,000.00 = 10% Bartender Team Payout = $200.00 Example – Team rings $2,500.00 = 15% Bartender Team Payout = $375.00




Tip Out Expectation


Each Bar will be assigned 1 Riptide Bartender to assist with computer questions, payments, food, etc. The Bartender will assist in sales if needed as well. There will also be a Riptide Barback work-ing each night. Teams are expected to tip-out a minimum of 20% to the support staff.





FINAL SCORING

Total points for Skills /Accuracy Challenge, Door Check-Ins, & Sales determine ranking.


The 5 Teams with the highest point Totals after Competition Prelims will be announced at the Customer Appreciation Party on 2/22/22 – Complimentary Food and Open Bar 7pm-9pm. On 2/22/22, all teams must be present to receive scoring reports. The Team with the highest point total from the prelims will receive $500.00 Cash that night. All 5 of the highest scoring teams will then return the following Tuesday, to compete for the Grand Prizes in the 7th Annual BMore Entertained Bartender Competition Finals, 3/1/22 (Mardi Gras Themed), hosted by RIPTIDE- FELLS POINT. 1st Place = $2,000. 2nd Place = $1,000. 3rd Place = $500. 4th Place = $250. 5th Place = $100.
